HAPPY NEW YEAR WORLD!

The last couple years I have brought in the new year in Taupō, New Zealand. Situated at the beginning of the worlds only north flowing river, Taupō is a town built around a massive lake created by a volcanic eruption. If you were to google New Zealand, theres no doubt that Taupō would come up as a must see. It's a beaut of a town with ALOT to offer, but we can talk about that in another post.

Fortunately for me, Nathans family is from Taupō so I get these scenic views as part of the family package. To begin the festivities, we headed out to Reggae by the River to hear the sweet sounds of UB40. There were also some great homegrown sounds heard from L.A.B. when we arrived. In all honesty I am not a good day drinker, things go down hill way too fast for me. Instead I happily danced, drank H2O and ate ice cream knowing sangria was waiting for me when I returned home.

For some of us, I know the thought of a New Years eve spent outside in short-shorts is a pretty foreign concept. For others, going ice skating with your closest friends is queally as foreign. To me both are pretty normal and though I enjoy what they both bring to the table I will say this: a snowy white Christmas is pretty legit but New Years eve celebrated in the summer is pretty hard to beat.

From the concert we headed back to the homestead where we were greeted by KFC thanks to Norman and Moana. Nathans family then slowly trickled in through the night. I miss alot of things about Canada, especially in the summer time but last night I was reminded of my second home having a fire, BBQ and sing along. Watching Nathans uncles dancing away was also pretty entertaining! For a country that hasn't seen much of summer yet, yesterday was fire! Good music, better people and some sunshine. I'm not sure if there is much more I could have asked for.

I hope where ever you are in bringing in the New Year was full of entertainment. I'm not one to make new years resolutions but I do have some goals that I will like to achieve in 2017. I will also be trying to make more time for people and adventures and I encourage anyone reading to do the same. Heres to 2017!
